Columbo Goes to the Guillotine
Famous (and fraudulent) psychic Elliot Blake uses his old mentalist skills to live a lavish lifestyle at the expense of a psychic research institute and hopefully, the US Government. What seems at first like a threat, a test devised by a well-known magician and debunker of psychics, turns out to be his chance for revenge against his former mentor. What he can't foresee is a police lieutenant who knows all the tricks.
Murder, Smoke and Shadows
Egocentric wunderkind film director Alex Bradley is the king of the Universal lot until he is visited by a childhood friend with an old reel of film graphically showing his negligent complicity in the death of his sister years earlier. When the friend threatens to expose him and ruin his career, he lures him onto the "Brownstone Street" standing set on the back lot and electrocutes him. He then dumps the body on a deserted beach and pummels the face with a hammer to prevent identification. Unfortunately for him a book with his phone number in it unknowingly falls onto the sand, and that brings the inquisitive Inspector Columbo to the studio.
Sex and the Married Detective
Psychologist Joan Allenby is at the acme of success in her profession: she runs her own successful sexual therapy center, hosts a popular call-in radio show, and has authored a best-selling self-help manual, "The Courtesan Complex." She is very deeply involved both professionally and personally with David Kane, her business partner, and projects herself as a focused, self-confident career woman. Unexpectedly returning to her office complex one night, she's shocked to find him and her "loyal" secretary in flagrante delicto in the therapy room talking disparagingly about her. Although severely shaken, she doesn't reveal her discovery and, taking a page from her own book, assumes the identity of a sexually aggressive and empowered high class prostitute. It is in this guise that she seduces and murders Kane, a homicide whose anomalies and contradictions are investigated by Lt. Columbo.
Grand Deceptions
A Colonel works for a highly revered and well respected General. Among the things that he has been doing is having an affair with the invalid General's wife and been diverting funds from the General's foundation to fund arms sales. The General discovers some peculiarities going on at the foundation, so he instructs Sergeant Keegan to investigate, he learns of the Colonel's activities, then instead of reporting it to the General, he tries to blackmail the Colonel. The Colonel in turn kills the Sergeant. But it's not long until Lt. Columbo is on the case and on the Colonel's trail. |
