Starring Jimmy Smits and Harry Hamlin, L.A. Law was one of the first TV dramas to deal with emerging social issues of the time such as domestic violence, racism and HIV. This was all whilst combining both tense drama and quirky humour, inventing a format that went on to be copied in many major network series.
