Rick og hans gruppe af overlevere har klaret den gennem en lang vinter, da de finder et fængsel, som de omdanner til et fristed. Samtidig er Andrea og hendes nye følgeslager Michonne nået frem til Woodbury - en udmiddelbart idyllisk by, styret af den karismatiske 'Guvernør'. Men er han virkelig den frelser han udgiver sig for at være? Og hvor længe kan Rick opretholde sikkerheden i fængslet?
I sæson 3 af "The Walking Dead" kommer truslen ikke blot fra de udøde men også fra andre overlevende, som gør alt for at overleve i en verden hvor grænsen mellem godt og ondt ikke længere er tydelig.

All 16 episodes from the third season of the US zombie adventure drama based on the comic books by Robert Kirkman. When police officer Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) wakes from a coma to find the world in the grip of a zombie epidemic, he joins a small encampment on the outskirts of Atlanta, where a band of human survivors struggle to withstand the terrifying advances of the walking dead. In this season, Andrea (Laurie Holden) and newcomer Michonne (Danai Gurira) are taken to a nearby settlement run by the seemingly benevolent Governor (David Morrissey) and Rick and the rest of the group move into a prison where they believe they should have enough supplies to last them a while but soon realise they have enemies amongst the living as well as the dead.
