Vi befinder os i tidsalderens begyndelse, da dinosaurerne levede. Verden var fuld af eventyr og fantasi, men også af farer.
For den lille dinosaurus Lillefod, en af de sidste af sin art, er det en besværlig tid. Hans mål er Den Store Dal langt ude i bjergene, hvor der stadig er grønt og frodigt, og hvor ondskaben ikke findes.
På hans vej lurer farer og onde dinosaurer, men han møder også gode venner, som gør ham selskal på rejsen.
