Based on the David Williamson play, a classic wry comedy centred on a successful husband and wife who move from Melbourne to Sydney in search of fame and fortune but encounter a world of hustlers, opportunists and cynics. John Hargreaves (Don's Party) stars as a prosperous screenwriter willing to accept the big money for mainstream films, but who attempts to turn out a film of meaning and value. When Colin accepts work as a writer on a TV show, he soon develops a crush on another hack writer's (Colin Haywood) girlfriend, Helen (Nicole Kidman), capping his downward spiral in the Emerald City. |
