Based on Peter Mass's best-seller dramatising the testimony of Joseph Valachi, a high-ranking member of Cosa Nostra, 'The Valachi Papers' unfolds in flashback as the protagonist tells all to the authorities. Mob attempts on his life while he's in prison have persuaded him to spill the beans and the film proceeds as an episodic account of Mafia history between 1929 and 1963, during which time Valachi worked for notorious boss Vito Genovese. |
