One of the most popular of all television western series, Bonanza aired from September 1959 through to January 1973, a total of 14 seasons and 430 episodes. The series was also unique in being the first to be filmed in colour and would become the top rated show on television between 1964 and 1967 (and was in the Top Ten for all but two of its fourteen year run).
The series chronicled the adventures of the Cartwright family, headed by Ben (played by Lorne Greene), a three times widowed father of three sons, each by a different wife. These were Adam (played by Pernell Roberts), Eric, better known as Hoss (played by Dan Blocker) and Little Joe (played by Michael Landon). Every week brought the family a new problem, either internally or externally, as an assortment of travellers, Indians, renegades and potential love interests passed through the Ponderosa Ranch.
This eight DVD box set features 31 one hour episodes, from the first and second series.
