Nigel Havers stars as Paul Craddock in this classic adaptation of R F Delderfield's novel.
Paul Craddock is now Squire of Shallowford although Lord Gilroy, his neighbour isn't impressed with his management style. Paul is married with a son but unfortunately his wife has left him to return to London and her beloved suffragette movement.
1905: There's more trouble with the Potter family which results in Smut being imprisoned. David Lloyd George makes a speech which the local Conservatives try to sabotage.
1907: Paul and Claire are now married and it's time for the local fete which includes an unnerving reading for Claire. Doctor O'Keefe and John Rudd make an announcement.
1914: War has broken out and the Valley says goodbye to it's young men. James visits from London with news of Paul's ex-wife. Professor Sholtzer faces some wild accusations.
1915: Paul receives a white feather anonymously. Will Codsall returns sick and shell-shocked from the War causing concern with the locals and Elinor, his wife.
