American Dad, from "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane, is the animated story of STAN SMITH, who works for the CIA and is constantly on the alert for terrorist activity. Stan will go to extremes to protect his beloved America from harm - as evidenced by the terror alert colour code on his fridge, and his frequent knee-jerk reaction of shooting holes in the toaster whenever the toast pops up.
In addition to Stan's wife and teenage children, the Smith household has two rather unconventional members. There's ROGER, the sarcastic space alien Stan rescued from Area 51, who deeply resents the fact that he's not allowed to leave the house, and KLAUS, a lascivious, German-speaking goldfish - the result of a CIA experiment gone seriously wrong.
AMERICAN DAD (PILOT)
Stan rigs the school election to help Steve score with girls, but the plan backfires when Steve wins and becomes drunk with power.
THREAT LEVELS:
Stan steals Steve's lucrative idea to stage and videotape “bum fights”, in which homeless men are forced to beat one another senseless, but when Steve helps the transients organise, Stan is forced to step into the ring himself!
STAN KNOWS BEST:
Hayley takes a job as a stripper after moving into her boyfriend's van. Meanwhile, Steve claims that Roger is his horribly disfigured burn-victim sister to gain sympathy points and “get boob” at the school dance.
FRANCINE'S FLASHBACK:
After forgetting his anniversary, Stan arranges to have the last 24 hours of Francine's memory erased, but a bungling technician accidentally erases 20 years, sending Francine back to relive her days as a teenager.
ROGER CODGER:
When Roger slips into a coma, the Smiths think he's dead and dispose of his body, and while the family copes with their “loss”, Roger awakens, only to find himself being pursued by the CIA.
HOMELAND INSECURITY:
Stan suspects that his neighbours are terrorists, but he winds up terrorizing the neighbourhood himself with his over-the-top investigation.
DEACON STAN, JESUS MAN:
Stan competes with his “smug bastard” neighbour to become deacon of his church, and Steve accidentally gets pregnant as Roger goes through his alien reproductive cycle.
BULLOCKS TO STAN:
Eighteen-year-old Hayley is sleeping with Stan's boss, Bullock, but Stan can't say or do anything about it because he's up for a promotion!
A SMITH IN THE HAND:
Stan objects to the sex education programme at Steve's school, so he decides to teach Steve the facts of life himself, taking matters into his own hands and becoming addicted to sexual self-gratification along the way!
ALL ABOUT STEVE:
After disowning Steve for being a geek, Stan must rely on his son's knowledge of science fiction and fantasy to catch a cyber-terrorist, and Roger attends the Mecca of geekdom - a sci-fi convention - to interact with humans.
CON HEIR:
Stan's real father, a studly super-agent, reappears after a 20-year absence to recruit Stan for a top-secret mission, but Francine suspects that he's a con man involved in a plot to steal priceless gems.
STAN OF ARABIA (PART ONE):
hen Stan ruins his boss' party, he's reassigned to Saudi Arabia, where the Smiths experience culture shock stemming from their new country's male-dominated social norms, which, of course, Stan loves!
STAN OF ARABIA (PART TWO):
Cultures continue to clash, and the entire Smith family is arrested by the Vice and Virtue Police and sentenced to death by stoning, while Roger is wooed by an Arab prince. |
