Quiller (George Segal - The Bridge at Remagen, Just Shoot Me), an unorthodox secret agent, is assigned by the head of Berlin Control (Alec Guinness - Great Expectations, The Ladykillers) to uncover the operations of a neo-Nazi organisation. During his enquires he meets the beautiful Inge (Senta Berger - Cross of Iron, Cast a Giant Shadow), but is she as innocent as she first appears? Sentenced to death by the menacing 'Oktober' Reichsfuhrer of the new Nazis, Quiller finds himself on the run and trapped in a web of intrigue, lies and deceit...
Filmed on location in West Berlin by Michael Anderson (Around the World in Eighty Days, Logan's Run), this multiple BAFTA-nominated film (with a script by the legendary Harold Pinter - The Birthday Party, The French Lieutenant's Woman) has long been regarded as one of the greatest spy films ever committed to celluloid. George Segal gives an arguably career-best performance as Quiller and is ably supported by Alec Guinness, Max von Sydow and the gorgeous Senta Berger. |
