| Beskrivelse:
With a core heat of 30 million degrees, the sun is the power plant of our solar system. Restrained only by the enormous pull of its own gravity, it explodes with the force of a million H-bombs every second. From the Big Ben Observatory, the National Space Weather Station and the SOHO Satellite, "Savage Sun" presents the most amazing images of the sun yet gathered. Our closest star, the sun is the cause of all life on earth and if we could trap all of the energy that fell to earth in a single day, we could satisfy humanity's power needs for thirty years. We meet scientists who want to go one step further and make their own sun in a fusion reactor. They are also forecasting the future of the universe by studying the particle nature of neutrinos. Finally, we visit a massive solar farm where half a million reflectors track the sun and provide energy for 50,000 homes. |
